현재ECP7으로 폴리유치원에 다니고 있는 저희 딸아이가 어제 폴리도서관에서 빌려온 책을 같이 읽고 리뷰해보려고합니다. 특이한 관점에서 동물에 접근한 재미있는 책이요 ^^

Let's start with this little critter-the Etruscan pygmy shrew.
이 작은 에투루리아 피그미 쥐( 좀뒤쥐)부터 얘기해볼께요.
It's real pipsqueak. Look, it's name is longer than its body.
정말 작고 보잘 것 없어보입니다. 보세요 이름이 이 쥐의 몸보다 더 길어요.
An Amau frog is even smaller.
아마우 개구리는 피그미쥐보다 더 작습니다.

이 개구리는 당신의 새끼 손가락에 걸터 앉아도 충분히 여유가 있을 만큼 작아요.

이렇게 작디 작은 동물들이 커다란 이빨과 날카로운 발톱들을 가진 무시무시한 천적들로 부터 생존할 수 있을까요?

거대한 사냥꾼들이 이 작은 동물들에게 가까이 다가오면, 우리들의 작은 영웅들은 그들만의 아주 작고 비밀스러운 공간으로 숨어서 사냥꾼들이 그들에게 닿을 수가 없어요.

이 특이한 새는 잎을 먹고, 소화를 시켜서 소의 배설물냄새보다 더 지독한 냄새를 배출시켜요.
Feeling sick to your stomach?
토할꺼 같나요?
Then you might not want to know about zorillas.
그렇다면 조릴라에 대해서는 알고싶지 않겠네요.
Their nasty spray is stronger than a skunk's and the awful ordor lasts longer.
그들의 심각한 악취는 스컹크의 악취보다 훨씬 오래 지속되어요.
Should hoatizins and zorillas clean up their act?
호아친과 조릴라가 그들이 한 행동에 대해서 청소를 할까요?
No way! These stinkers are sending their enemies a powerful message.

그들은 하루에 20시간을 그렇게 쉬고있어요
Should these sleepy slackers change their ways?
박쥐들이 삶의 방식을 바꾸어야 할 까요?
Nope. napping is the sceret to their survival sucess.
아니요! 낮잠은 그들의 비밀스런 생존 성공 방식이랍니다.
Because koalas, giant armadillos, and little brown bats spend so much time resting, they don't need to get as much energy from their food asmore active animals.
왜냐하면 코알라와 아마딜로, 박쥐들이 그렇게 많은 시간 잠을 자면 그들은 활동량이 없어 먹이를 먹지 않아도 되기 때문이죠.
여기까지가 책의 절반 정도 읽은 지점이에요.
생각 보다 작은 동물들의 활약상의 뛰어나고 토할 것처럼 이상한 냄새를 배출하는 동물들도 다 이유가 있었군요!!
그리고 맨날 잠만 자는 동물들도 그들이 생존하기 위한 방법이였다는 것도 이책을 통해 어른인 저도 알게되었네요
아이의 책이지만 읽으면서 많은 것들을 배우네요^^
너무 길어서 오늘 리딩은 여기까지만하고 2부는 또 다음에 다시 리뷰해서 올려볼게요~~~
